Where Landscape Metering Actually Saves You Money at EMWD
EMWD bills commercial sewer as a fixed daily charge per Equivalent Dwelling Unit, set by building size and tenant type. Irrigation volume does not change it, so a deduct meter will not cut your sewer bill here. The money is in your water budget instead.
EMWD puts non-residential accounts on water-budget tiered rates and requires a separate landscape meter for any commercial landscape over 2,500 square feet. Exceed the budget and the rate nearly doubles:
Separately metering landscape is what lets you hold irrigation inside its own budget instead of pushing the whole property into Tier 2, and it shows you which zone drifted when you do go over. Wasteful Tier 3 water runs $15.52/CCF.
